About

Dawn McGuigan

Hey. I’m Dawn, a copywriter and communications specialist based in North East England.

I have two decades of experience delivering marketing, communications and content for organisations in the public and private sectors. My specialisms include housing (social and new build), regeneration, local government and culture, but I’m also an accomplished communications all-rounder. You can see my full professional background on LinkedIn.

I now work with a host of clients – ranging from NHS trusts to creative agencies – to deliver B2B and B2C copywriting and communications projects. I’m also an Associate Lecturer at Newcastle University supervising dissertations of MA Public Relations students, as well as previously teaching on the BA (Hons) Fashion Communications course at Northumbria University.

My writing has been published in High Life North, Vibe magazine, Influence, Luxe magazine, The Journal and New Writing North, covering everything from books to returning to work after maternity leave, coastal walks and place branding features.

I’m a sucker for a CPD course so on top of my BA and MA in English from Northumbria University, I’ve got a CIPR Professional Diploma, CIM Communications and Marketing Diploma, a Freelance and Feature Writing Diploma from the London School of Journalism, and I’ve studied crisis communications with the Cabinet Office. Phew!

And, most importantly, I’m mam to three beautiful girls – Cora and twins, Erin and Caitlin. I lead the Book and Brew book club but have been woefully behind on my reading since my daughters arrived. Unless you count the entire Julia Donaldson collection as a reading list, of course.

Check out my services or get in touch to have a chat about how I could help you.
